It seems keywords are making the top of SEO list time and time again. The problem is that some optimizers do not understand the rightful purpose of keywords. Keywords should not be solely embedded for the purpose of reaching the top of search engines. Search Engine Optimization should not be the primary focus of any website. The primary and number 1 focus should always be the visitors. If you create a website for your audience and for your visitors then you should rank fairly. I can’t see why any legitimate website can not rank properly within search engines, after time and dedication. Search Engine Optimization main purpose is ranking faster within search engines. Instead of gaining a good balance of traffic within 1 or more years, it is possible to gain a good balance of traffic within 6-9 months with SEO.  Keywords play a major factor in SEO and search engines in general, but the question is are keywords for the search engines or the visitors? The visitors are the ones who are trying to find your site by typing in a keyword, but the search engine is the one locating your site and delivering your site to the visitor based on the searched keywords. Therefore I would have to say, keywords, visitors, and search engines all work hand in hand, but if you focus on the visitor and not the search engine, then you will reap greater rewards. A webmaster should have a plentiful of quality and researched keywords, which becomes the sites core. To receive a good balance of keywords you need to think like your visitors or know how your visitors think. It boils down to research and tracking your visitors. Tracking visitors on your site is business-wise and is not an unethical practice, it’s your website (business). In an offline business you are well aware when a visitor opens the door to your business and comes in the store, the same applies online. It becomes unethical when you continue to track visitors when they exit your site, when you invade visitors’ privacy, or when you intentionally collect personal information about a visitor without their consent or knowledge. Tracking a visitor within your site does not need to be intense, the common web log files are helpful enough. With the web log files you should be able to track the keyword used to find your website, track where a visitor came from to find your site (the referrer), track the total number of unique visitors, track the total number of all visitors, track how many pages were viewed, track the path visitors take within your site, and much more information is available through the web logs. There are many tools that can translate your raw web log files into graphical and legible text, such as: Nihuo or Web Log Expert which both offers a free log analyzer download as well as an inexpensive analyzer for more detailed stats and more features. There are other upscale web log analyzers which are mostly for enterprises or larger sites but are extremely detailed and rewarding, such as: Web Trends, Deep Matrix, or Urchin (which has recently been acquired by the search engine giant ‘Google’). Knowing your visitors can only benefit your site. If you have a new website without any visits then you will not have the benefit of knowing your visitors and you will have to create your visitors habits, by using good judgment and research to determine which keywords best suits your site. Your best effort should provide you with at least 250 keywords and keyword phrases, depending on your site category. Once you have tracked your visitors and/or have completed researching keywords, you are ready to make informed decisions and begin the process of elimination. Many argue to stay away from popular or general keywords because the market for popular and general keywords is flooded and over-crowded, you will never be able to compete. My sentiments exactly, but remember keywords are for humans not search engines…so yes, I recommend including popular and general keywords as long as the keyword(s) show room for opportunity. Meaning, it has been used by your visitors…as a solitaire keyword or within a keyword phrase. Creating keyword phrases is important because at least 95% of internet users search using keyword phrases, not many use one word. With that said, you should still include a few solitaire keywords. Use singular and plural expressions for keywords. Once you have gathered all your keywords make two lists, one list can be titled active keywords…keywords which you are currently using or plan to use in the near future. The second list can be titled inactive keywords…keywords which have been eliminated and may never be used. Eliminate keywords based on your research, visitor data, and site category. Regardless how general your site is try to have only one focus audience, this zooms in on your target, makes marketing the site easier, and more successful. When done eliminating you should have a plentiful of keywords and keyword phrases. Generally, the goal should be to have at least a combination of 100 keywords and keyword phrases. This number may be greater or lesser depending on your site category/niche market. Keyword research can be accomplished a number of ways. I would recommend using best judgment and sticking to your site topic. If your site is about “the rules of playing baseball” then anything pertaining to the rules of baseball should be included as keywords. Remember think like your visitors, if you were a visitor looking for ‘the rules of baseball’ how would you search…your search words would probably be something like ”rules of playing baseball”….”baseball playing rules”….”playing baseball rules”….rules of baseball”….”baseball rules”….”how to play baseball”….”baseball and the rules”…if your site contains the ‘rules of baseball’ then each of those keyword phrases will be sufficient for inclusion into your active keyword list. A few links that can help with keyword research are: NicheBot, Wordtracker, Google Keyword Tool, Digital Point Keyword Tool. Some of the main attributes which you want to research is how often the keyword/keyword phrase is searched for within search engines, how much competition there is for the keyword/keyword phrase, and if you are considering pay-per-click then you would probably like to know the average cost per click for each keyword/keyword phrase. You should not rely 100% on any of these reports or other reports from any third-party because there are many deterrence which may offset the reports, you should collect data from each of them and derive a census report which will allow you to make an informed decision. Think about your visitors each step of the way when using keywords. Which keywords will catch their attention, directly or indirectly? Meaning, if a user searches for ‘baseball rules’ then when the search engine searches through billions of web pages…it should pull your web page into the results because you have a entire website dedicated to baseball rules and the entire site is centered around keywording. When the search engine crawls through the billions of web pages it should see that your web page title has “baseball rules” within the title, your meta-tag description has “baseball rules” within the description, your meta-tag keywords have “baseball rules” within the keywords, the link to the page is titled “baseball_rules.htm”, and the content on the web page itself has a proper amount of keyword density, basically, the keyword phrase “baseball rules” is plastered throughout the web page mostly leading towards the top of the page. I know most of what I have just mentioned is Search Engine Optimization practices and techniques, yes, that is true, but in actuality the entire process is for the visitors not the search engine. If you create your site easier for the search engine to find then the visitor will also find it easier and faster, but at all times it is important to keep the visitor in mind. Many SEO practicioners would include any keyword about baseball such as: “baseball”…”major leagues”….”major league baseball”….”minor leagues”….”minor league baseball”….”atlanta braves”….”new york yankees”….”baseball players”….etc. Those keywords are for the search engines not the visitors. If a visitors enters “atlanta braves” as a search keyword and your link is displayed as an result the visitor will be disappointed when he clicks on your link and does not find any solid information pertaining to the “atlanta braves”…instead he/she is greeted with “baseball rules”. The visitor will immediately back out without referencing your site or indexing it for later retrieval because it does not pertain to their search quest. Once in a while you may become lucky and get someone who stays because it does mention baseball, but if you tracked conversions, it would surely sink, using this method. The better you target your visitors the more success you will have on the web. Properly using keywords to target your visitors and not the search engines will aid in more ways than one. It will create a healthy online circuit and greater chance for success. Imagine if each time you search the web…you had a perfect search! You only needed to search once, because exactly what you were looking for was found in the first results.

Indiblogger Meet: The power of the written word

Article by Mesin Kasir, Printer Kasir dan Komputer Kasir

The pen is mightier than the sword, as they say, and this New Year The Akshaya Patra Foundation in conjunction with Indiblogger.in, the largest online community in India for bloggers, proved just that. On Sunday, the 9th of January, Akshaya Patra and Indiblogger hosted a meet in Bangalore, where bloggers from across the nation came together for a common purpose: to explore the power of online media for the greater good of society.

The event was the culmination of a month long competition held by Akshaya Patra on the Indiblogger platform, where bloggers could write about the mid-day meal program and the impact it has had on children. Two bloggers with the best entries in the competition would then win a trip to Jaipur.

The online phenomenon resulted in over one hundred bloggers across India sharing their thoughts, ideas, beliefs and experiences to promote the vision of the Foundation, that ‘No child in India shall be deprived of education because of hunger.’

“I did not know the importance of food, till I moved out of my house…” writes one blogger, Richa Sharma from New Delhi, going on to explain how the simple gesture of giving food to hungry children on her way to work brought immense satisfaction.

“I eventually changed my office and never even once bothered what happened to those tiny dancing souls…” she adds. “Then one day I got a mail from HR that some NGO is visiting our office and if we could attend their presentation. It was an institution that had something to do with providing lunches to children so as to instigate them to come to schools. And as I read the introductory mail, I was reminded of my little friends and a thought struck me, “what if I told them to come to school everyday and that they will get a good meal there, will they come?” And the answer was a definite Yes. And then I knew that Akshaya Patra has caught the right chord.”

Many topics were discussed and highlighted during the event, which the bloggers participated in with high energy and enthusiasm. One of the major challenges faced by the development sector is raising awareness for the work being done. A non-profit’s meager financial resources often pose a serious limitation on their capacity to reach out to the public.

“There are crores of children in our country facing this problem,” said Madhu Pandit, Chairman of Akshaya Patra. “Each person’s situation may be different in life, but there is one place where we should have equality, and that is food.” Compounding this problem is the reluctance on the part of traditional media to champion a specific charitable cause.
“We are the largest NGO in the world to conduct the mid-day meal program, but our own country doesn’t know about us,” said Shridhar Venkat, Executive Director of Akshaya Patra. “The biggest gift you can give us is communication,” he went on to add.

It was with this regard to raising awareness that the synergy of individuals made the greatest difference. According to Anoop Johnson, Co-founder, Indiblogger.in, “It has given bloggers a purpose and brought about focused content on a particular issue, which is incredible to see.”
The blogger’s meet was the first full fledged program of its kind held by the online community to focus on a social cause.

Perhaps the most satisfactory outcome of the day was the overwhelming response of writers to the idea of blogging for a cause. It gave people an opportunity to become a part of a social movement that is slowly bringing about significant change in India. (Today, the mid-day meal program has over 121 million children benefitting from the scheme, with Akshaya Patra directly impacting 1.2 million of them.)

By creating a platform for people to air their views and opinions, the blogger’s meet tapped into the most influential source for change: the power of the individual voice.

Niche marketing is finding small, unused areas of the market that occupy a special area of demand. A small corner of the world that huge corporations have no interest in. These little segment of the market can have a big impact on the niche marketer. You won’t have to worry about the big conglomerates trying to squeeze you out because the customer base won’t be big enough for them to even care about. They want to attract large crowds and make huge sales off one giant website.

Try to set up a website selling computers. Could you ever compete with Dell and Gateway? No! They have an advertising budget that is bigger than your annual income. There is no way to touch that market.

How about a website selling craft items. Do you think you could compete in that field? Probably. There aren’t any big corporations fighting for your customers. Would you be able to make a lot of money selling craft items? Some money but no where near as much as if you sold computers. The difference is you would actually be able to attract customers to a craft site. and since there isn’t a lot of competition in this field, you will be able to keep your customers for years to come.

How much could you expect to make from this type of site? Some where around $ 50 – $ 100 a month. Nice but not great.

The trick with niche marketing is to set up one niche site after another. Build a small but loyal customer base for each site. If you were to make $ 100 off one site. Think about the potential of having 10 sites or blogs.

Ten little websites each bringing in around $ 100 each month. Not bad. Now build another site and another one and another one…

Fifty little websites each bringing in around $ 100 each month. Hmm… This is looking pretty good.

Is niche marketing really needed in a world full of websites competing for income? Those who know how the system works will answer “YES INDEED”, because niche marketing is the only system capable of filling up a gaping hole in the market by catering to the unsatisfied needs of a smaller group of customers. Needs that virtually go unnoticed by the big leagues. Through niche marketing, you will be able to gain a foothold in the market by being a needle in a haystack. Small and inconspicuous websites that attract small groups of people that need exactly what you have to offer.

There are an endless supply of tiny markets out there that the big companies with their big budgets are never even going to consider. This is where you want to set your goals. Little by little you could build a gigantic internet empire and just sit back an watch the money roll in.

But how are you going to find the time to research and build all these little websites? This is where you are in luck.

2006 seem to have become the year of niche websites. You can buy already made websites that you just upload to your server and start selling the products. There are many membership sites that you can join for $ 50 to $ 70 each month. For your membership price you will usually receive 3 new niche websites each month. Some of these sites have content and graphics only and you have to create the layout. Some of these offer plug and play websites that are set to use as is.

You will also see many websites that are offering individual niche websites that you can buy one at a time. Buy what you want when you are ready for another site. These pre-built websites are selling on an average for $ 15. Money well spent considering you are saving yourself a month or more in the time it would take for you to build one of these sites.

All of these types of ready to go sites that you can buy are sold in small quantities. You can find sites that will only sell 100 of any given niche. I have seen this limit go as high as 750. These limits are set so you will not have to worry about too much duplicate content out there. You wouldn’t want to buy a website that 10,000 other people are buying in the same month. Then your little niche would suddenly be a big competition. 100 – 200 of any niche website is a good quantity. You can be pretty sure no one will run into two of the same websites when you consider the billions of websites out there.

The people who build these ready to go niche market websites do all the work for you. You don’t have to find the small, unique markets. You don’t have to create the content. You usually don’t even have to find the products to sell. These niche site creators have done all the work for you. You just change a few codes here and there so you will be getting the credit for the affiliate sales and AdSense ads and you are in business.

The greatest thing about niche marketing is you don’t need a separate domain name for each website. You can have one general domain name and add sub-domains for all your sites. You are never going to find a cheaper way to break into the internet income market.

Why You Need Blogging Friends

Article by Mesin Kasir, Printer Kasir dan Komputer Kasir

When I started blogging I was faced with a lot of challenges. You write a good post and get just a few reads and no comments. You feel like you are writing for yourself. You feel all alone.

Sometimes you consider giving up, maybe blogging was not meant for somebody like you. Perhaps the Probloggers out there have something you don’t. That was until I met Kelvin. He blogs at Internet Wealth Lab.

He had been blogging for three years before me. We shared stuff we knew about blogging, challenges, achievements and aspirations. We would comment on each others blogs and generally support each other in trying to become better bloggers. Through him I came to see blogging in a new light and I could see myself getting better everyday.

Just like everything else, you need people behind you to succeed as a blogger.

So many times we want to give up, but on remembering promises we made to our friends we find that we have something to keep.

You need somebody to appreciate your work every other day. It keeps you inspired. A good friend who reads your posts and leaves useful comments can do you a lot of good.

Friends who blog just like you are more likely to link out to you. They may also do a review of your site. I am sure you could do with all that extra exposure.

If you don’t know the power of Guest blogging, then you need to read about 10 Things That Will Make Your Blog Successful and Popular. You will find out just how it could turn your blog into an overnight success. If you have a friend who is a blogger, you can start writing guest posts for their blog.

When you launch new products your friends can help you market them. At a commission of course. I see John Chow promoting ProBloggers products and vice versa. It works pretty well. Another blogger recommending your products can result in extra sales.

Anybody serious about blogging should definitely consider reaching out to other bloggers and making friends. They are people you need to become a successful blogger.

My name is Alvin Makoani and I have a big passion for blogging. I love teaching other bloggers how they can achieve success with their blogs and make money blogging. Blog Writing – Beginner Blogging Mistakes

Article by Mesin Kasir, Printer Kasir dan Komputer Kasir

Blogging is not complicated, but it is hard. It’s the same theory as lifting up a car – the action is a simple one, but it requires a great deal of effort to pull off. At the root of it, blogging is as simple as can be. The blogger logs in, writes a piece of appropriate length touching on a relevant topic, then posts and all is done. However, it is painfully clear that most blogs don’t survive the inception phase, and even those that do manage a few opening posts don’t tend to last more than a few days or weeks.

There are a number of mistakes that beginning bloggers make, blunders that compromise their blogs and kill their chances of developing an interested audience. On the other hand, there is far too much criticism and far too little specific advice on the web. With that in mind, here are some of the common opening mistakes new bloggers make, followed by specific steps that can be taken to avoid them.

Blunder #1 – The Text Wall

Rooted in the dialup age and the period where text was the only truly efficient medium of communication online, this kind of post is increasingly inappropriate for the online environment.

Broadband is widely available, having become the norm in many places rather than the high-priced exception. Cable connections, DSL and fiber optic specialized systems are all available for reasonably affordable prices, so more multimedia content can be included in every kind of post, and this most definitely includes blog posts.

Avoiding the Trap: It isn’t hard to find images or videos related to a blog topic. Search engines include video and image functionality in their search terms as a matter of course, and YouTube is full of material that can be accessed readily. For smaller posts, a single link or video will probably do the trick, but for a more involved entry, one image per paragraph is certainly appropriate. Don’t include more than one video unless the post is specifically about a particularly engaging video series, however.

Blunder #2 – The Deaf Ear

The audience defines the success of a company. If people aren’t buying, the product is a failure. If people aren’t visiting, the museum is a failure. If people aren’t reading, the blog is a failure. This is an inviolate, absolute principle of all marketing, and yet there are many blogs that shut off user commentary or fail to interact with the audience as a matter of course. Censorship is ineffectual in any case, and self-censorship is an exercise in absolute stupidity. The blog that fails to take advantage of the opportunities offered by an active and positive comments section will not succeed as much as one that embraces the community mindset.

Avoiding the Trap: Cultivate commentary by rewarding thoughtful contributors. For example, if a visitor posts in a particularly eloquent and informed fashion, invite them to make a guest post on the blog and expand upon their ideas. Consider making the guest slot a regular feature of the blog. In a stroke, this will reduce the overall workload on the blog’s primary writer and show the more informed readers that their words are reaching the authority behind the blog. This also helps quell any din raised by agitators and malcontents.

Blunder #3 – The Rote Post

Regular content is the key to a successful blog; this can’t be disputed. However, it also can’t be disputed that some writers simply hit a slump and can’t go on producing without cessation. Sometimes the inspiration simply isn’t there. A blog oriented toward news-style stories covering a specific industry might suffer when the industry simply isn’t providing any new stories, for example. Forcing a post at times like this will be a bad idea almost universally, because people can tell when writing is forced or uninspired.

Avoiding the Trap: This is another area where the video function can come in handy. If a topic just isn’t presenting itself well, a blogger can look up a video series on the topic of their choice and post it. It’s often easier to post a video and add some commentary on the issues discussed than it is to come up with an article whole cloth.

Blunder #4 – Missing the Point

This issue ties right back in with the idea of audience feedback and participation in a blog, as well as finding alternative methods to rote updating. Consider the idea above, where a writer strapped for ideas posts a YouTube video related to the blog’s mission and makes a post commenting on it rather than devising an entire post of his or her own. Suppose this video comment is one of the most popular posts by traffic and commentary compared to any others, even though it took the least work. Why would a writer not take advantage of this? Sadly, this is exactly the case, and many bloggers miss the opportunity to pick up a new idea.

Avoiding the Trap: If a crazy or half-baked idea somehow becomes more popular than the default or normal pattern, consider making it a series and running with it. This is why observing metrics such as traffic and the user comments section is such an important skill to develop. The net is alive, vital and adapting. Keep a finger on the pulse of it, and be prepared to react to sudden inspirational shifts.

Create Your Own Online Psychic Job Niche

Article by Mesin Kasir, Printer Kasir dan Komputer Kasir

Are you in the market for one of the many online psychic jobs out there? Right now, it can be an awfully difficult place to be trying to land a job. And that’s true for the people who are running their own psychic business as well as the people who simply want to be an employee of one of those business.

But as is always the case, if you are willing to do a little work – some of it quite boring – then you will significantly increase the odds of landing a psychic job.

Start by thinking of the process not in terms of a search of the perfect job but rather the creation of the ideal work situation. That’s a different approach altogether and one that is likely to empower you, motivating you to heights you might not have considered.

In other words, you can’t simply throw a resume and cover letter together, toss it in the mail, and then drink lattes while waiting for prospective employers to come knocking on your door.

You are going to have to do some of the legwork yourself.

And you are going to have to make yourself stand out from the crowd.

How do you do that? Well, in the psychic business world, you do that by creating niches – you have to market yourself as a specialist. You aren’t a psychic – you’re a psychic with a particular skill set that targets a particular clientèle.

So you aren’t just a psychic. Rather, you read Tarot Cards. Not only that, you have a real gift for online Tarot readings that are focused on relationship problems. See?

Or perhaps you want to identify yourself as a specialist – or expert – in dream interpretation. If somebody comes and asks you to to tell them what a dream means, can you do it? It’s quite a popular and lucrative market.

Other niches that you might consider include working as a Clairaudient or Clairvoyant. The whole broad category of Spiritual Medium – one who carries message back and forth between the physical plane and other planes – can have multiple sub-categories. Perhaps you communicate with the help of angels. Perhaps you use a specifically Christian language. Perhaps you are inclined to Pagan traditions.

Remember that when you are working online – whether for yourself or someone else – the fact that the client isn’t sitting across the table doesn’t have to be a problem. If you are gifted and devoted to making that gift work on behalf of others, the internet is no impediment. You can even do online palm readings – simply have someone fax over a photocopy of their hand!

Combine your skill sets. If you do online Tarot Card readings, then be sure to note that you integrate horoscope compatibility readings into the cards. Or numerology – whatever you have that makes sense. This approach will help you to stand out amongst the many applicants that face potential employers. Make yourself special. And in no time, you will land that psychic job!

Do you know why it is so hard to create a product for a niche? I can tell you that it is difficult. However, the following tips may help you make Niche Product Creation easier:

1) Consider creating a niche service, rather than a niche product. Find one specific input that all business owners in a given niche. Develop a reliable, consistent, high-quality service for that specific input. Contact webmasters in that niche and alert them to your new service. Sometimes service sells better than a product.

2) Use your client list to create a niche product for you. For instance, you could create a contest that offers $ 100 to the person who can write the most interesting story about something related to the niche you are in. Then compile all of these stories and sell the book to your list. Of course, you will want to announce and congratulate the winner on your site.

3) One good way to approach the niche product research phase is to start by evaluating a given base of customers. For example, if you plan to sell your product primarily through Google Adwords campaign, setup a survey site and drive traffic to it using Google Adwords. Ask your visitors what they were looking for – and what they might look for in a product. At the same time, you can also build a list when they write in what they think.

4) When you create a niche product, always have the customer you are selling to in mind. Think of this person or group of people as having a problem and they need a solution. You may even want to contact someone who is looking specifically for a solution – and ask them precisely what it is that they needed most in a niche product.

5) If you have sites that already receive natural search engine traffic for a given niche, consider setting up surveys or polls on those sites to see what is your best course of action might be in terms of product creation. For example, you can ask your visitors what type of product they want – videos, ebooks, software, audios, or something else.

6) Join a membership site that generates niche product ideas each month. For each of these ideas, evaluate them by yourself to make sure the markets are actually profitable. You should be able to find at least a few ideas that could potentially be turned into a profitable product, even if you don’t currently have a site getting traffic in that niche. Just be creative

7) Use Overture’s Inventory tool to determine how many people are actually searching for keywords in your niche in each given month. Multiply that number by 8 and you will get the rough amount of Google traffic for that same keyword. If you don’t already have an established site in that niche, you will definitely want to avoid it if the search numbers are way too low.

Niche marketing is a manifestation of how much internet marketing has evolved in recent years. Niche marketing is based on a real world model, that is, it is a business strategy that is focused on real people with real needs and with real money to spend.

Niche marketing is a technique that seeks to conquer small and usually unattended markets that are fuelled by a strong passion for a particular interest. The benefits of cornering these markets are enormous. First, you will encounter little competition. Second, the market is driven by enthusiasm and they will continuously support a product that they like.

To illustrate, five years ago, internet marketing strategies focused on general markets. “I want to make money online,” one would have said, “so I’m going to sell products for dog enthusiasts.” But dog enthusiasts comprise a pretty broad market. A lot of online businesses are already catering to their needs.

But today, internet marketing strategies are focusing on specific markets. Instead of targeting dog enthusiasts, they target Sharpei owners. This is niche marketing in a nutshell.

Succeeding in niche marketing isn’t as difficult as you might think. Here are five simple steps that would guarantee your conquest of the niche you would choose.

1. Know what people are searching for online. You need two important ingredients for this step: instinct and Overture. You think you have them? Let’s proceed then. Point your browser to:

http://www.inventory.overture.com

This is Overture’s super powerful and useful keyword selector tool. Type in any word and the system will tell you how many searches were made for it in a particular month.

Now you will need your instinct, as the process is all trial-and-error. Think of a field that not many people know about. For the purpose of this discussion, let’s choose the word “widget.”

By typing in the said word, Overture will tell us that 2136 people searched for “widget” in the month of April. This would be a perfect niche market. It’s not a popular subject, and you have 2136 people, less a few repeated searches, that are potential clients.

2. Determine the profitability of the niche. Overture would have given you a list of keywords pertaining to your targeted niche. Now it’s time to see if we could make money out of them. Log on to Google Adwords and check out the pricing of the keywords. The higher a keyword’s price is, the more profitable it can be.

But you don’t have to rely on Googles Adwords alone. You could conduct your own research by reading books and newspapers. Be on the lookout for particularized markets you could exploit.

3. Evaluate the potential market. You could do this manually by running your own search and checking out the websites that cater to your chosen niche. Scout the competition! This could take some time though, so a better option would be to invest in some useful tools. One good software you could use is Word Tracker, which would provide for you a supply vs. demand. Word Tracker would survey multiple search engines and pinpoint competing websites.

4. Create your own product. You do have to sell something, so you have to create an item that the members of the niche would want to buy. Since you’re operating an online business, information would be the most ideal product that you could offer. By packaging information in the form of electronic books, membership sites, software, subscriptions to newsletter or even streaming media, you’d have an offering that the target market would always have a need for.

5. Content is king. You would want the members of the niche to visit your site, and the way to do this is by offering good, quality content that they can never find anywhere else. As we’ve mentioned earlier, the members of a niche are fuelled by passion, hence they will always be searching for information on their particular interest. If you provide this in your content, they will come to you, and you could expose your products to them.

Niche marketing is not difficult indeed, but you can’t be successful with it lying down. Some effort is still required, as is the case with all viable businesses. With steps outlined above, you will be able to corner the niche of your choice. May it be very profitable for you!

What are Topical Search Engines?Simply put, topical search engines are search engines focused on a specific industry, sector or topic. While many marketers are scrambling for links, any links, an area that is often overlooked is topic-specific search engines. What many don’t realize is that these engines do produce traffic, and they often contain traffic that is very targeted. Anyone who has taken the time to analyze weblogs and track sales sources will likely see that targeted traffic converts at a significantly higher rate than non-targeted traffic.A savvy online marketer realizes that often, the quality of the visitor is far more important than the quantity of visitors. Web marketers should focus their energies on attracting targeted traffic whenever possible. For example, if you sell saddles, advertising on a site related to horses or advertising on a topical search engine like http://www.horse-stall.net will bring significantly more sales than advertising on a generic web site or search engine. Niche engines are considerably smaller than general search engines but they can still be quite lucrative. The small size of a niche or topic-specific engine ensures that the there are few competitors, and advertisers are generally willing to pay a little more for the focused traffic. Advertisers appreciate the unique benefit of reaching a very targeted audience who have a higher likelihood of purchasing their product or service. As a result, topic-specific search engines and directories are a burgeoning market. There is far less competition in niche directories and dominating a specific market segment and establishing brand recognition is significantly easier. It is virtual suicide to attempt to compete with the behemoth search engines like Google. Web-surfers are interested in simplicity and efficiency, which translates to as few clicks as possible. This is an area where Google really cannot compete with a topic-specific search engine. Creating a simple, clear navigational structure of related content while cross-promoting related products or services will increase the site’s value. Advertisers will also flock to search portals that are industry-specific, as they appreciate the unique benefit of reaching a very targeted audience who have a higher likelihood of purchasing their product or service. Consider the niche search engine, Alarm Tools – http://www.alarm-tools.net. The traffic this portal attracts will be of significant interest to manufacturers of security equipment or emergency supplies. Imagine the targeted traffic that an alarm company could receive from a link in the above search directory. Comtemplate the quality traffic a financial planner could glean from an RSS search directory focussed on finance and investing at http://www.finance-investing.com. Locating topic-specific search engines is not all that difficult. Consider using the resources provided by Search Engine Watch, Web Search Engines, and Search Engine Guide to locate engines that are topic-specific: Search Engine Watch – http://searchenginewatch.com/links/article.php/2156351 Web Search Engines – http://www.web-search-engines.net/directory/topic-specific.html Search Engine Guide – http://www.searchengineguide.com/searchengines.htmlQualified ‘clickers’ or interested buyers is what it is all about; whether you are selling a product or advertising, the more targeted the traffic the better the fit. As an advertiser, consider topic- specific search engines. As an online marketer, consider creating a niche search portal, as the market is ripe.
